Bonding:
A smile can be dulled by
stained, chipped, cracked or misaligned teeth,
but bonding can quickly and painlessly restore
your smile’s natural beauty. During the
procedure, a thin coating of plastic or resin
is painted over the damaged teeth. The new coating
strengthens your teeth and is virtually indistinguishable
from natural color.
Crowns and bridges:
Crowns- Also called caps,
crowns are natural-looking covers that fit snugly
over teeth to conceal cracked, badly discolored,
injured, or chipped teeth. Crowns minimize physical
discomfort and provide support to damaged teeth.
Ultimately, crowns can improve the overall appearance
of your smile while making your teeth more resistant
to injury.
Bridges:
Sometimes a little extra
work is needed to create your desired smile.
If you are missing teeth, having trouble speaking
or chewing, or notice strain when biting, bridges
may be the ideal option to help make your mouth
healthy and beautiful again. Sometimes referred
to as fixed partial dentures, bridges literally
bridge gaps between teeth by filling them with
strong, natural-looking artificial teeth. Bridges
are relatively permanent and can only be removed
by a dentist, but are completely comfortable
and proven to make teeth strong. To find out
if bridges are the right option for you, please

Sealants:
A dental sealant (also called
a pit and fissure sealant) is a plastic, professionally-applied
material that is put on the chewing surfaces
of back teeth to prevent cavities. Sealants
provide a physical barrier so that cavity-causing
bacteria cannot invade the pits and fissures
on the chewing surfaces of teeth.
Root canal therapy:
In the situation that a tooth
is considered so threatened (because of decay,
cracking, etc.) that future infection is considered
likely or inevitable, a pulpectomy, removal
of the pulp tissue, is advisable to prevent
it. Usually, some inflammation and/or infection
is already present within or below the tooth.
To cure the infection and save the tooth, Dr.
Attia drills into the pulp chamber and removes
the infected pulp by scraping it out of the
root canals. Once this is done, the dentist
fills the cavity with an inert material and
seals up the opening.
Extractions:
Extractions are performed
for a wide variety of reasons. Tooth decay that
has destroyed enough tooth structure to prevent
restoration is the most frequent indication
for extraction of teeth. Extractions of impacted
or problematic wisdom teeth are routinely performed,
as are extractions of some permanent teeth to
make space for orthodontic treatment.
Scaling and root planning:
Scaling is procedure that
meticulously removes contaminant toxins, micro-organisms,
plaque, tartar, cement, and dentin that is rough
and/or permeated by calculus from around, below
and under the gum line down to the bottom of
the pocket. This is done to remove biofilm,
calculus, and toxin down to the bottom of each
periodontal pocket in order to obtain a healing
response.
In our office we use a topical anesthetic to
make this procedure comfortable. Root planning
involves smoothing the root surfaces of your
teeth with thin curettes so gum tissue can more
firmly re-attach to roots that are clean and
smooth to prevent tooth loss and sensitivity
problems. The procedure makes it more difficult
for plaque to accumulate along the root surfaces.
